Shadows and texture

Whilst driving through rural France in the recent weeks, we had discussed the obvious fact that the shadow of decline hangs over much of it - small villages that once had boulangeries and so on were now bereft. Many towns were surrounded a ring road of shed shops.

Yes, very much like here in the UK but not what we had experienced there not so many years ago. Such a change in the texture of life.

It's only been 4 weeks since I last visited our nearest town but was surprised to see a change to its texture with the introduction of a tattoo parlour in a prominent position. These premises used to be a financial advisor. A sign of the times?
