Elle and I hit the town with our cameras tonight. We spent some time experimenting with long exposures of the passing traffic from an overpass in the heart of Broadbeach. Later we bought some mint gellato from a local shop and headed down a grimey alleyway to find this hidden and slighly run down carpark entrance for the otherwise well presented Phoenician hotel.
I've combined two exposures to balance the bright lights emanating from the interior with the gentler glow falling on the facade of the building. I feel that the strange combination of green, orange and blue against the massive void of the night sky help to excentuate the unnaturalness of the artificial street lights. It stands in its strange beauty despite the rather seedy setting; what you don't get from the image is the foul stench of garbage bins and exhaust fumes.
