Yellow!
Finally got started at E St today, and what a day. Great start.
Got some decent masks in today as there is a possibility we're dealing with lead paint on this project. And my what a difference having a good mask makes as well. So comfortable, didn't make my glasses fog up, and didn't breathe increasingly hotter air. Should have done that ages ago.
This apartment has had nothing spent on it for years, so this project will be the biggest thing that's happened to it in a very long time.
First issue was getting rid of the carpet. Interestingly, the tenant had thrown out the front room carpet before they left - apparently they couldn't stand anyone seeing the state it was in (not like it was staying). I removed the bedroom carpet and my god it stank. I cannot imagine what the first one smelt like.
If you wonder what had gone on - dog poo. Lots of it.
The bedroom carpet was thrown outside and you could still smell it 15 feet away. It reeked.
The walls are in pretty poor shape as well, so lots of scraping, and then lots of skiming to get rid of the awful texture. Have a problem with the kitchen ceiling so we quickly decided to replace it - we'll do that on Monday or Tuesday.
Kitchen cabinets sanded down, they'll go white, you can see the drywall mud on the yellow in the photo as we smooth the walls.
All in all, good start.
