October photo challenge: day 5

Dark

Today whilst our son had his swimming lesson, I sat in the library and my lovely husband took our other son to the local park with his scooter. After that we drove to Chislehurst and ate lunch at the Pizza Express. I do love my Tesco vouchers!

Then we went to the caves. We planned this last week when our youngest had his meltdown in the car. Less internet and stricter routines are definitely helping, and activities which don't involve his obsessions are essential, although he is definitely attempting to press our tolerance buttons. I really can't put it all down to his ASD, his ADHD or his OCD. I think hormones are playing their part too.

Anyway after a shaky start in the first cave room, (him making weird and very loud noises whilst everyone trying to listen to the guide turned and stared at us) he soon settled into the tour and managed to walk around the whole 45minute tour without too much effort.

I had promised our older son we would take him to these caves years ago when he was at primary school. He had been supposed to go on a school trip there on the day of the 7/7 London bombings and so it was cancelled at the last minute.

He really enjoyed it today and told me he was glad he'd gone with us instead.

The caves are pitch black inside and we carried these lanterns to light the way through the dark.
