Metal Detector & Moon

Chris had invited me over to supper as I was heading out to get a last-light blip and walk Lola (as usual) so I made it a quick one, to Sandymount Strand. The light was gorgeous, as it often is, and the first thing I spotted was this man with mine-sweeping apparatus, working his way methodically along. When I stepped onto the beach I became aware of the long shadows and a slice of last, passage-tomb light (from a gap in the houses across the road) into which my keyhole shadow slotted perfectly.

I caught up with the metal-detector man, who was moving fairly swiftly. His name is Joe and he was happy to have his portrait taken. He wants some pics, so I'll send them.

Thence a walk with Lola, and a chance to let her romp with a couple of other dogs, one of them a grumpy old JR, who still had a bit of puff in her and could out-growl and out-snap Lola.
