Orkney Autumn

No leaves slowly turning through various hues of gold, deep yellow or red, here. The leaves are usually just burnt or stripped straight off the branches. And so it proved today during a quick visit to the Plantings.

Apparently today is 'Silver Surfers Sunday' (or some such 'thing') throughout the UK.. Therefore we made our way through to the Kirkwall Cinema. And we saw a classic 1952 film starring Gene Kelly / Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Conner. The cinema holds about 300 folk and around 24 turned up - and it was free!! However, for some reason, it wasn't advertised and it was also a case of PBS.

In the afternoon we went to a Tea Dance. The Current Mrs Creel was indignant because she isn't yet over 60. Some sublime music was provided by Rognvald Anderson's Band. Again a case of PBS.

We also danced last night and as I write we are about to leave to go out dancing again. Still it saves me from trashing our local phone box.

And I just have to mention the guest appearance of Cyd Cherise.
