Longsheng Rice Terrace
On Friday we got up to go on an excursion to Longsheng Rice Terrace. The bus picked us up at 7:30am for a long drive into the mountains, followed by a two hour wait for a local bus then another long drive then a queue and a cable car and eventually at 2:30pm we arrived. We spent two hours there and got some great photos. The land has been terraced in this way to make ridges of flat rice paddies which makes for some spectacular views. Lunch was cooked in bamboo trunks over a charcoal fire.
We then had another long journey back arriving at the hotel at about 11pm. It was a long day and had we known what would be involved for a relatively short amount of time at the top we probably wouldn't have gone but in hindsight I am glad we did.
