Waiting for the ferry
Birthday today. Into the city today. I took the inevitable lorikeet before going, and the inevitable opera house, harbour bridge, Luna Park etc when there.
This is my preferred shot though; something about the feel of it really grabs me.

This street artist is a guy named James Kite, ( www.jameskite.com - though there's not much there), who lost his job when Angus and Robertson closed. He’s been unable to get a job; no benefits because of stupid bureaucratic idiocy (he couldn't provide a bank statement to Centrelink, because he had a "paperless" bank account, and they wouldn't accept a print-out). eBay rule changes kept stuffing him up to the point he lost any income, and became homeless. For the last four and a half years he's been trying to make ends meet with his art; he got about $5 a day at first, and still hasn’t managed to get a steady income - or a home.
That despite his work - in monochrome using just a ballpoint pen - being stunning.
