Sweet Alyssum
This widely grown edging plant is normally sold as an annual, but can be perennial, particularly where winters are mild. This plant has been flowering on and off for about 18 months, but puts on its best show in late aurtumn, as the other flowers are fading away.
This was the only photograph I took in a very busy day, which included an appointmenrt in Oundle to have my broken tooth assessed, before I start the process of having an implant. I think the most painful thing will be the bill - ouch!!
In the afternoon our electrician came and replaced part of the ring main that had been affected by a leaking bath. The cable insulation had two small holes, which obviously allowed the circuit to short as soon as the surrounding plaster became wet. We now have a fully functional electricity supply after nearly two months of problems. And, even more important, we can turn the central heating on, which might be necessary very soon if the weather forecast is to be believed.
