Fissure

I've been carting around a large, semi-finished sculpture for the last fifteen years or so and this is a detailed view of part of it. Bit strange I know. I love the grain of the old elm beam that I used, and the scalloped finish left by the curved carving tools. One reason it was never finished was the fissure that developed from top to bottom, even though it was well seasoned wood.
