Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Afternoon movies.

A wet morning, but JR and Archie went for a walk. I did the ironing. Funny how it seems the better option at times.

In the afternoon we went to the pictures. Of course, by this time the rain had passed and it was a lovely day. We went to see ‘Gone Girl’ which is just about the lo-o-o-ngest film ever. It almost warranted TWO big bags of Maltesers.

It started off really well, but the last third had so many holes in the plot that it descended into a bit of a farce. IMHO. And it had the most gruesomely violent scene. Not that I saw it, but I even had to put my fingers in my ears, and only politeness stopped me from going ‘La-la-la-la!’ to drown out the gurgling noises. No need for such graphic scenes. And the ending was most unsatisfactory. But, on the plus side, it was two and half hours of the gorgeous Ben Affleck on screen for most of it. That helped me cope.

Archie has been at his naughtiest best since we came home. Jumping up and pinching the folded ironing. He grabbed a yellow post it note from JR’s bag and ran off with it like it was the Best Thing Ever! What a daft wee dog he is.
