Good Morning Good Morning

We went to a charity Big Breakfast this morning. It was organized by the local Rotary Club, in aid of local charities. It was held in Alcester Town Hall, which is a very old and beautiful building with this superb timbered roof. Sadly its cooking facilities and kitchen are pretty ancient too so it was a bit of a challenge to keep the bacon eggs sausages beans mushrooms toast and coffee coming, but they did very well and I'm sure raised lots of money.

One of the things they were raising money for was an Alzheimer's support group for sufferers and their families. We were shocked to see several people we hadn't seen for some years looking so unwell with this horrible illness. They had that vacant slightly bemused look, and their wives were trying to maintain a sense of normality for them with that sort of brave sense of humour which was fairly close to breaking down in tears I thought. We came away rather subdued.
