the five-minute portrait
I attended a new photo class today (titled as above)
so far it seems truly fantastic: many delightful discoveries as we progressed through a series of deceptively simple exercises (described, well, my attempt to describe, below)
we spent the first session paired off (this is Jennifer, my new classmate) and taking turns (in five minute segments) taking photos of each other.
prior to the first five minute session, we didn't speak to our partner at all. following that first shoot, we gradually got to know our partner.
prior to the last segment, we had to come up with three words to describe our partner's face. and then, ultimately to come up with one word to describe their "essence"
the homework assignment is to submit the portrait that best fits that one-word descriptor. it might not be the "best" of the pictures, or the most "creative" of the compositions, but this is the photo that I hope fits my sense of Jennifer as straightforward.
