Watching wildlife

This photo was taken through a telescope which gave us the opportunity to spot much of the wildlife which lives in this valley.
We were lucky enough to see a bearded vulture, an eagle, ibex, red deer and many chamois in the Val Trupchen. Our guided tour was very informative and very interesting, and we were also accompanied by the sounds of the red deer rutting.
There are only two species which have been re-introduced into the Swiss National Park, the oldest national park in the Alps, and they are the ibex and the bearded vulture. The ibex were extinct throughout the alps except in the Gran Paradiso National Park in the Aosta Valley. Bearded vultures were re-introduced more recently.
We spent the night at the Varutsch hut, where we slept well after a full day and a hearty meal.
