The Foreboding Overcast.

After spending a glorious day on the sands of Illetas Playa, a great sweep of dark and magnificent mammatus clouds sweeps in from the south-west, covering almost the entire sky in under half-an-hour.

Before long, the distant rumbling of thunder could be heard and as we stood at the bus stop not long after this photograph was taken, an airliner ascending from Palma International Airport narrowly missed being struck by a great bolt of intracloud lightning as it sought to veer away from the approaching storm, illicing gasps of surprise from those of us watching it.
