Red Lake in Romania
Today we drove southwest from Gura Humorului (near the Painted Monasteries) to Sighisoara (ca. 350 km). We were in our small van nearly the whole day, and it rained most of the time as well--definitely a challenge for my blipping efforts.
But we stopped for an excellent lunch at a Hungarian restaurant overlooking Red Lake, one of the key sights on the journey, which has this view. Bicaz Gorge was the other notable feature, with incredibly steep rocky and wooded sloped along the narrow road. Frustratingly the rain stopped as we reached the flat region approaching Sighisoara, and the ground was dry--confirming what our guide had told us about northern Romania usually suffering much worse weather than the south.
The map of the whole region is poor, and the location I've marked is mostly a guess.
