Shutters
A feature of Cape Dutch style houses are their shutters. Most shutters in the village are painted in a contrasting colour to the walls, very often hunter's green as here, some elegantly blend in with the rest of the house, others have been varnished a shiny brown and then left alone.
I like the fact that these shutters are half-open, giving me the possibility of a glimpse of what's hidden inside. So, not entirely hidden, but also not entirely open to the world. (In case you wondered: there is not much to see inside: the building houses a computer business, and interior decorating seems not too high on the list of business essentials.)
My interpretation of Chantler's October word challenge: Hidden. Tomorrow's is Shade, if you would like to join in the fun.
