Wellington railway station

Like several New Zealand towns, Wellington is positively bristling with gorgeous 1920s and 1930s architecture. One of my favourites - as much for its completely out of place grandiosity as anything else - is Wellington Railway Station. Completed in 1937 it has an incredibly (and disproportionately) grand entrance with eight doric columns. Inside the main building an immense cathedral like ceiling was allegedly inspired by Pennsylvania Station in New York (though not on anything like the scale of Penn Station).

This shot shows some commuters leaving the main entrance around lunchtime.

No word on yesterday's search...I hope no news is good news!
