Hurricane Lily

Hurricane lilies get their name due to the fact that they bloom during hurricane season. These were growing in an empty lot. the house that used to be there was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. I had never seen this color before.

The lilies are sometimes called Naked Ladies because they bloom without any leaves present. The leaves emerge later.
