P permakers rms

Another closed pub. On 30th May, 1999 Jemma and I sat in this pub, surrounded by Gillingham fans, and watched the Division 2 playoff final between City and Gillingham. Paul Dickov's equalizer was so far into injury time many fans had left the ground but that goal leads directly to where Manchester City are now. Had they not managed to win that game, after extra time and penalties, they wouldn't have been bought and bankrolled to create a Premiership-winning team.

This pub has been through a number of incarnations - it was called "Motley Hall" for a while - and has been boarded up for about 10 years. I've found a newspaper article from 2008 which says that it was to be demolished and redeveloped as housing but that's still to happen. Another pub, a mile or so away, was closed, demolished and the newly-built houses sold within a year but the Papermakers still stands sadly derelict.

In other news. Taxed my car online this morning despite the tales of the website being overloaded and crashing for fun. I think the fact that I was awake at 05:00 so hit it early might have been a factor.
