Damien Hirst's controversial statue on the harbour at Ilfracombe was attracting a lot of interest this morning; on the other side, the skin appears to have been stripped back to reveal the muscles on her thigh and the baby in her womb; not your traditional English seaside attraction!

From here we went to Lee Bay to recall a holiday we had there when the kids were young and then spent two hours on the beach at Croyde Bay, where we bumped into a former teaching colleague who was enjoying a day's surfing with his son.
