Getting ready
On Friday Bahrain kiddies celebrate Heya Beya.
Heya-beya is grass planted in baskets made of palm tree leaves. The century-old tradition is considered the first lesson of sacrifice in the life of Bahraini children as every child watches over his or her plants for days before it is cast into the sea on the eve of Eid Al Adha.
Every year, parents encourage their children to plant heya-beya days before Eid, while others buy ready-made heya-beyas from the side of the road.
Spotted this gentleman selling his baskets today. He was so happy to pose for me!
Looking forward to Friday
