Wild Turkey Flock

Dear Diary,

There were 14 wild turkeys in the yard this morning! I was only able to photograph 5 of them from my kitchen window. They are so skiddish that had I tried to go outside to photograph the entire flock they would have run away.

There were about 4 adults and 10 adolescents "grazing" on the crickets and grasshoppers in the field. I do remember a time when wild turkeys were quite rare in Northern New England but they are very plentiful now.

I put out the bird feeders yesterday and stocked up on their favorite seeds so I'm ready to begin welcoming my little feathered friends to dinner just in time for the feast day of St. Francis on October 4th!

Remembering all our feathered friends today...
