In a caravan light
These last weeks I had to translate from Romanian to Swedish and viceversa for a helping group in Järna. This way I got to know one family of beggars and talk with them.
As someone coming from a big city, my first thought was that somebody else is taking advantage of their situation and collects the little money they get in exchange for "protection" (an usual thing in Bucharest). I was wrong, they came on their own risk in a desperate need for help. Romanian govern is very silent, pretending these problems are not existing.
Despite the desperation, some of these beggars are still trying to "milk" the situation as much as possible, but this man has totally melted any fears. Modest, open, warm and ready for any job he might get. He proudly calls himself RUDAR, which in Romanian means the kind of rroma people working with wood. I definitely wanted to publish his portrait and he was very glad that I asked.
Many thanks to JEM (Järna Eu-Migranter) for all the efforts they make to rise a bit life's value.
