End of an era

No more tax discs from today. Is it just me or were they not a simple way to see if a vehicle was taxed,and also a visual reminder of when the tax ran out? If you run a lot of machines it's easy to forget !
This is from the old Ford loader tractor,bought new in 1978. The tax then cost £16 .
