Taylor Dam Outlet

We have enjoyed a glorious spring day with warm sunshine, a gentle breeze and blue, blue skies. I drove up to the Taylor Dam. The dogs and I took the track to the top of this large earth dam and walked along the top to the far western end. Then we dropped down to the area along the foot of the dam and made our way back along the track overlooking Bluegum trees and Meadowbank Station, eventually returning to our starting point. It is not a long walk but well worth undertaking as there are some great views of the area from the top of the dam. Today’s image shows the actual upper Taylor River which is parallel to the lake. Here the water flows under the dam and out via the outlet to join the river as it proceeds downstream. The concrete structure in the left foreground is the where the outlet is situated. This is where flood waters roar through and out of the dam area during floods...… A very different sight to today’s tranquil scene.
