Last Morning

Our breakfast had to be quick in order for us to get our luggage to the start of the tarmac road in time to connect with a bus which was to take us back to Cairo, some 350 miles away.
It was time to say goodbye to our four drivers who had worked so hard to make things run smoothly. They were taking the cars back to Siwa.

En route we visited the Crystal Mountain with its outcrops of coloured quartz and then on to Bahariya Oasis to see some Mummies discovered in 1996 of ordinary people and also visit two tombs with beautiful wall paintings dating from the Roman times.

Lunch was eaten as we drove for 5 hours across a featureless stony desert back to sprawling Cairo and our hotel stop for the night. You can't imagine how wonderful it was to have a shower and get rid of all the sand.

We forewent the group dinner in order to meet up with Mr & Mrs David77 and have the chance to say good bye before flying home tomorrow.
