my grandfather was a beer enthusiast (to put it nicely) and i think he would like the idea that his granddaughter drinks beer from his old beer glasses every now and then. despite not being the perfect father to his kids, from what i heard my grandfather was a gentle and nice guy, with a very interesting life story. he died a long time ago.

the 'drie hoefijzers' (three horse shoes) was an old brewery from breda, founded in 1538 as brewery 'de boom' (the tree), in 1628 it was renamed to 'drie hoefijzers'. The brewery closed in 2004 (the name had changed a few more times during the years), some of the old buildings are renovated, and a new neighbourhood (called 3 hoefijzers) was/is build where the brewery used to be.
