Victorian Classroom

On the second day of our Mackintosh Tour I took the Kensington & Chelsea Women's Club to Scotland Street School Museum.

Scotland Street School was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh between 1903-1906 and was commissioned by the School Board of Glasgow. Now, as a museum, it tells the story of education in Scotland over a hundred years, from the late 19th century to the late 20th century.

While we were at the School a Primary School had just arrived and were about to experience what it was like to be Victorian children attending a Victorian Classroom. I managed a quick shot as the girls were being told to line up outside the Classroom.

Our next port of call was the House for an Art Lover where I gave a tour of the house and the new Heritage Centre. We then had a fabulous lunch in the Art Lovers Café. All the ladies thought the quality of the food was exceptional.

After lunch I took the group over to Helensburgh to give them a tour of Mackintosh's Domestic Masterpiece, The Hill House. The weather has been so kind today.

When we got back to Glasgow I gave some of the group a tour of Royal Exchange and Princes Square.

It all starts again tomorrow.
