Hopes Reservoir from above

We were walking with our club today in Hope Hills, which are down near Haddington in the borders.

The day was dull first thing, but as we headed south the sun became strong and the clouds disappeared and we had the most fabulous day, and walked with short sleeved tops on and no jackets necessary, even though we were up at 1800 ft.

We stopped at the beautiful little village of Gifford and had coffee in the Goblin Ha' Hotel, before heading to the start of the walk.  A steady climb on a good land rover track until lunchtime, with the views opening up as we climbed.  Hopes Reservoir looked so blue with the sky reflection, it was just beautiful.  Another long and steep climb from there to the highest point of the day, and then across towards Crib Law and a long road down to Longyester where we finished our walk.

We then returned to Gifford for some drinking time (as we do) and sat out in the pub garden with our drinks in the warm sunshine.  We felt very lucky to be able to do this.

Before I left home this morning I switched on my slow cooker as I had prepared a Lamb Curry for cooking last night.  When we came home the aroma was just amazing, and within twenty minutes I had the rice cooked and we sat down to a well deserved meal.  Magic!!!

My photo is of Hopes Reservoir down in the glen, taken as we headed down the hill.
