Completely Conkers

Seeing these conkers on the ground reminded me of when I was a kid, we were just conkers mad. We would out before we went to school searching for the best the Chestnut trees had to offer. Then we would be stringing the conkers on the school bus ready for the days forthcoming competitions in the play ground. I wonder if kids today are still so obsessed by simple pleasers in life.

Conkers is a traditional children's game in Britain and Ireland played using the seeds of Horse Chestnut trees—the name 'conker' is also applied to the seed and to the tree itself. The game is played by two players, each with a conker threaded onto a piece of string: they take turns striking each other's conker until one breaks.
