Tree fern forest
Not a colourful Blip today, but I put it on to show part of our grove of tree ferns, Dicksonia antarctica. These ferns are native to SE Australia and Tasmania.
What's special about this picture is the abundance of sporelings which it shows. Apart from the three tree ferns at the back, in most of the foreground, and indeed behind me as I took the picture, are hundreds of young tree ferns growing from the spores shed by the adults. Before too long we're going to be hacking our way through the jungle!
