Lunch on the Danube
This morning we drove to the beautiful medieval town of Dürnstein which is only a little over an hour from us. It is an area called the Wachau which is famous for my favourite white wine, Grüner Veltliner. It is also well known for apricots and there are all sorts of apricot produce from Schnapps to soap.
There is a fortress ruin where Richard the Lionheart hid in the 12th century before being arrested. It was a pretty steep climb but worth it for the fantastic views over the valley with the Danube and the vineyards.
We had a delicious lunch overlooking the Danube in the Lionheart Hotel, naturally with a glass of Grüner Veltliner to celebrate my 200th blip!
