Iced-in duck

This is a decoy, and no living duck was harmed in the taking of this picture ! The pond in our garden remains completely iced over and this decoy (a gift from our neighbours a long time ago) remains firmly embedded - it has been like that since before Christmas , which is the longest period of cold weather we have had in 19 winters in Argyll. A snow shower last night (we got the edge of it about 9.30 pm driving up through Largs from a meeting in Troon) has added a new dusting across the top and made the cats confident enough to walk right across - until they got to a clear ice patch, which made them pause for thought.
