Edoras

Today we drove to Mount Summers, had a one hour steep trek to the top and then went in search of Edoras, the capital city of Rohan from the Lord of the Rings ... apparently the most scenic of the Lords of the Rings sets. A bit of a long drive down an unsealed road for about and hour but we made it in the van. Its actually called Mount Sunday and is incredibly picturesque. The weather turned horrible however and we got soaked walking to the top. This pic was taken on the way back down as the weather improved.

We then drove to Rakaia Gorge to stay in the DOC camp site, fish and chips in the Blue Pub before bed though ... probably the last fish and chips for a while!
