Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red
This is the installation, at the Tower of London, marking one hundred years since the first full day of Britain's involvement in the First World War. 888,246 ceramic poppies will progressively fill the Tower's moat with the final poppy being added on Armistice Day, 2014. Each poppy represents a British military fatality during the war. I was moved by the sight of the poppies and the large number of volunteers of all ages who are making it happen.
During the afternoon I visited the "Late Turner" exhibition at Tate Britain. There were so many of his paintings there, all painted after he reached the age of senility. which at the time, was thought to be 60.
Then this evening I was at the Savoy Theatre to see Robert Lindsay in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" which lightened the mood considerably. What a fabulous actor he is, he oozes charisma!
