What a beak!
This species of eagle is native to eastern Russia and when fully grown they weigh between 10 to 12 kilos. An absolutely magnificent bird.
This was blipped at the Kielder Water, Birds of Prey Centre. While we were there a party of primary school children arrived, the presentation they were given was so incredibly well done, I'm sure the children will remember their visit for many years. Every child got the chance to have the birds land and take off from their gloved hand. They all got to feed a tiny owl individually too.
That night we visited the Kielder observatory.
