Edlingham Castle

Dates back to around 1295 it was originally a fortified hall and was turned into a castle proper in 1328.
There is an information board at the site which gives the visiting time as, " Any reasonable time" which we thought was wonderful.
There is also a lovely old church adjacent to the castle which was built in the 12th century, there may have been a church on the site as early as 740 AD.
