Sabaidee

One thing different from Cambodia is that in Laos people are more likely to proactively greet you as you pass them. When kids do it it's the cutest thing and comes across as genuinely welcoming.

'Sabaidee' is the generic greeting for hello/good day/welcome.

These girls said it to me so I thought it was ok to ask permission to snap them as they tucked into a bowl of noodles.
