Nature prints
Went down to Lenzie today to a BPS meeting, the British Pteridological Society, otherwise known as the fern club! Begun in the Lake District in 1891 and still going strong, the BPS has many meetings in its various regions, many of them to study native ferns in situ.
One of our number gave a presentation on the nature prints of Henry Bradbury, who used a direct printing method to print ferns, flowers and other things on to paper. He brought with him one of Bradbury's original books from the mid-19th century - the picture, though not a great photograph, shows a depiction of one of the pages.
