at home with an Ivysaurus

Birthday Girl!

She's 1 today. Cant believe it. It's so funny that a year ago all she could do was wave her arms about and make little snuffly sounds, and now she's stringing words together and climbing.

Plan for today was just to let people know what times Ivy was awake if they wanted to pop round to see her. We put out a spread, that I'm rather proud of. we've done more furniture rearranging so what used to be the tv cabinet is now a sort of sideboard near the dining room table. Plan is to fill it with Ivy art supplies when she's older. The big glass jars we'd picked up for our wedding that we've now postponed.

Ivy had great fun opening presents this morning, she turned out to be very good at unwrapping. My aunt sent her lots of interlocking rings individually wrapped which Ivy loved. She got an amazing haul of presents, I'll not list them all individually- but if you sent her something thankyou very much.

Her new t-shirt is from Lucy the chemistry teacher. It's 18-24months so a bit big just now, but I suspect Ivy will wear it alot before it fits properly, because it's just so cool.

We had visitors in the afternoon, Seb and family came round first with Rachel and Esme (the dog, that Ivy got a bit obsesssed with petting). I'd made Ivy a tub of rainbow rice that I didn't let her play with till she had another baby (to help her work on sharing). So with Seb there I opened it up. Ivy played with it in the tub at first, whilst Seb got told not to throw it about, but then Ivy went a bit mad and started throwing big armfulls out of the tub and going 'AHHHHHHHH'. we'll be finding rice everywhere for weeks I think. She loved it though.

Next Ayesha and Hannah came round with Lucy and Lucy's friend. Ivy was very impressed with the 2 big girls (4 years old) and wanted to be just like them and eat fruit sticks. Hannah climbed into the tub of rice and was perfectly happy.

Then Becky came round and brought Ivy a witch costume- so we dressed her up and she stomped about looking adorable.

Laura came round and brought Ivy some cake (bannana of course). Ivy very much approved. Laura also got her a backpack with attatched toddler reigns. Euan said he couldn't look at her anymore because she was too cute. We had brought down the cd player from upstairs and put on her mixtapes earlier. I have a video of Ivy dancing with her backpack on that may be the best video i've ever filmed. I need to do some series editing to make a 1st year video for Ivy.

Wheneveryone had gone home, Ivy and Euan went to play in the garden with her new ball.

Ivy has absoloutly had a great day today. She loved jst wandering about and having endless access to fruit, breadsticks and cocktail sausages. She liked the excitment of new toys- including the board that Euan and I made her. It's still missing a few bits, like a mirror, a door knocker and a door chain. And the Bilibo Pop's got her after a blip friend recommended it. She also seemed to decide, that she couldn't take anything of the last year into this one, and filled her nappy a record 6 times today.
