Smiling through the tears

Today was the day monkey got lost. It was a wonderful day until then!! She'd enjoyed ballet. We went home to drop the car off and got the bus to town. We went to the library and discovered a heritage weekend about the First World War. She did lots of activities; treasure hunt, colouring, ID card making and such. It was during this time that, I later discovered, monkey had been left. She took him out my bag without telling me, so I didn't check for him when I did the gathering up to go. We headed to the former town court which is now a museum and was taking part in the town Georgian festival. She made a theatrical mask and a fan before we headed home. At which point I discovered he had gone. But the library and museum had closed. I would like to publicly thank my parents at this point. They traveled over, trawled the town and our route home to hunt for him, though Katie said she was sure he was in the library. So much so she was quite calm about it. Until it dawned on her she wouldn't have him for bedtime. I took her to see lydia and try Aunty Emma's sunggly new furniture as a cheer-her-up. It was a very wobbly bedtime!! It took all five other monkeys, both our plucks, my snuggliest jumper and me to settle her.
