Coppicing

I set out to take some shots of the Highland cattle not far from where we live. However, when driving past you don't realise how obstructive the hawthorn hedge is to getting a good shot. After trying a few times I turned round and took this shot of the coppicing that has been going on in the woods. The trees that have been coppiced are sweet chestnut. The silver birches have been left alone. THis is near to a mound which was an iron age fort, just a couple of miles outside Canterbury.
