Conker thief

The children had been playing with their conkers outside and left them strewn across the patio. I happened to pop outside to put out washing and both the squirrel and I made each other jump! He ran into the bush with something in his mouth. He sat there chattering at me very crossly whilst I finished with the washing. I was intrigued to see what he was after so shut the door to see if he would come back. After a little while he did and scampered around stealing the conkers one by one and dashing away, presumably to bury them. We put out a few peanuts so the children could see him come closer (and stop stealing their conkers!) and watched through the window.

I was interested to find out if the squirrel actually are conkers as I had thought they were poisonous but a quick google told me apparently not to squirrels so this little chap found himself an easy feast!
