Today was mowing day. Gorgeous weather for it. I got to the front yard at about 3:00 and finished the whole thing about 5:30. At 7:00 I was cleaning up the kitchen when I looked out and spotted a web spread out beneath a tree that I had just mowed under! I grabbed the camera and went out to find this rather sizeable creature wrapping up several morsels to eat at its convenience later. So, I can only conclude that it had been lurking above me the entire time I was mowing, trying to decide whether to drop on me or wait for a more manageable meal. It freaks me out how quickly it spun this pretty good sized web. And how do they connect the webs from branch to branch as if they flew through the air? Pretty amazing stuff.
