Orla and friends

I was able to sneak away to the allotment for a bit after a long morning walk and a trip to the bank and before lawn mowing and a family trip to have a drink in the sun. What a perfect day!

I was struck by how pretentious and 'Country Living' it looks using these paper bags, which happened to be left over from an unhealthy, non-organic and not really hand-crafted at all take-away meal. The pretentious spud spilling is all mine, though.

These Orlas have done well, but the soil is so dry that digging them is hard work. I suppose that also means that they're not getting eaten as much. I'm sure the Orlas used to be a second early, but they've been upgraded/downgraded to early main crop. Those 'Sunset' apples are just about ready. Delicious.

Pretty cranky evening so far.
