Fine young cannibals
Went out to the garden this morning as there wasn't much happening. When I got there, there was a large group of tadpoles thrashing about near the surface of the water. Some of them swam away when i got close, but most of them stuck around to keep eating their brother.
This isn't rare by any means, it's a way of guaranteeing the survival of at least a few of the young if food sources are scarce. In any brood of tadpoles, you get some that eat plants, and some that eat the relatives. Thought I'd share that little cookie.
