Castle Rock

Once upon a time (about fifteen years ago), a little girl was playing with her friends in the shadow of a castle perched high up on top of an enormous rock. She was so engrossed in her game that she never noticed the castle. When eventually she saw it, she realised right away that it was an enchanted palace where princesses and knights and dragons lived. So she excitedly ran to tell her mum, who was sitting nearby discussing the cost of school uniforms with her own friends. Hopefully her mother looked suitably impressed, and pretended that she hadn't noticed the castle either.

In entirely unrelated news, daughter heads off to university tomorrow for the last time, and I'm ridiculously sad about it.
