Up Against The Wall

Days are getting shorter now,
and the cool evening air is saturated.

In the countryside the fields are freshly plowed,
and the farmers are spreading manure.
The mixture is quite heady.

In the city the first dry leaves
are littering the sidewalks
keeping the steps lively.
