Heritage Day

Officially, it's Heritage Day - a public holiday. Unofficially, it's become known as Braai Day.

The official day confuses me: what is meant with "heritage"? The unofficial annoys me with its assumption that everybody in this country has the means (or the inclination) to braai. A lot of people went to bed hungry tonight. How do they see this day?
